Solar Powered Stadiums could be the Future of the Sports Arena
The brand new Sunshine Coliseum in Taiwan is setting a new bar for solar integration in sports stadiums. You can see in the photo that the entire periphery is adorned with solar panels. It will provide enough energy to power more than 3,000 stadium lights and 2 giant megatrons. Furthermore, when the stadium isn't actively being used, the power will be consumed by local residents.
We have seen solar integration at sports complexes in the U.S. before, but nothing to this scale. You can check out some pictures of the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles on the left for an example.
This may provide us some indication of how stadiums will be built in the future. Will this make them carbon neutral?

Italian CarbonPig (not verified) says:
There is a football (soccer) field near to Venice where they have the solar panels for to power the lights. Large ones.
